Responsibilities
- Gardener responsibilities include monitoring the health of all plants and greenspaces, watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilizing and mowing lawns, weeding and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter.
- Daily grounds inspections to include the parking lot, landscaping, community garden, and dog park.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections, and safety checks.
- Report maintenance repair items to the Maintenance Supervisor to be added to priority action item list.
- Familiar with native plants and their care with the goal of becoming an expert in native plant care.
- Perform general landscaping maintenance to include removal of debris, weeds, and volunteer plants.
- Maintain the irrigation system to maintain the health of plants while conserving water.
- Install and maintain seasonal plants as needed.
- Mow, trim and fertilize green spaces as needed
- Mulch, edge and weed gardens as needed
- Prune and trim trees and bushes
- Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, like mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter.
- Water succulents and maintain brick planters on the residential floors.
- Perform janitorial duties on all residential floors to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.
- Clean residential breezeways and hallways including wiping vertical surfaces such as door frames, fire equipment, electrical boxes and de-bugging light fixtures.
- Respond to and assist with specific requests from general manager and/or shareholders and provide substantive communication regarding a project status.
- Record and maintain appropriate reports/files on a regular and proficient basis. This is to include but not limited to daily, weekly, or monthly logs and the proper coding of service request/order for proper accounting procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between the Gardening Committee and Management.
- Interface with residents, general manager, and other representatives of the management company as requested.
- Plus other work related tasks as needed
- Minimum of five (3) years residential maintenance experience, preferably with mid to hi-rise experience or building maintenance background.
- General knowledge of landscaping/garden maintenance
- Knowledge of how to maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers and fertilizers, while following health and safety regulations.
- General knowledge and the interest in learning more about native plants and their care.
- Possession of a current driver’s license with active automobile insurance required.
- Physical capacity to lift 50 lbs to include lifting of packages and supplies. Adequate provision of first-aid and welfare facilities and support.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Be familiar with MSDS procedures.
- Be familiar with OSHA safety requirements for all team members and enforce at all times. A safe workplace without risk to health.
- Prevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks.
- Provision of emergency procedures, first-aid facilities, safety signs, relevant protective clothing and equipment, and incident reporting to the relevant authorities.

- Ability to work with a team or independently.
- Demonstrate a reliable, responsive and on-time work ethic.
