We have an opening for an Operations Manager for our North Charleston, S Service center. Under the general direction of the Senior Operations Manager, manages warehouse and distribution operations that control the flow of materials both to and from locations in the most timely, productive, and cost-effective method possible. Examples of these operations would be, distribution management, warehouse management, and inventory management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Responsible for the overall operations and physical conditions of the location’s facilities and equipment. Oversees the daily operations of the delivery and warehousing functions.
- Controls operating costs to operate within annual budgets. Participates in Planning operations strategies and goals, establishing locations priorities, and sequences for the smooth flow of products to customers.
- Reviews team and team member performance on a regular basis by compiling operational reports that measure on-time deliveries, back orders, hours worked, shipments received, etc. to ensure minimum costs, prevent operational delays, and forecast both short and long-term planning needs.
- Resolves problems relating to processes, costs, orders, fleet maintenance, inventory control, equipment/trucks, services, and systems that affect the division’s ability to meet or exceed customer distribution needs.
- Directs the implementation of safe operating practices in compliance with Company and regulatory policies (DOT regulations, forklift operations, OSHA compliance, etc.).
- Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervises employees such as Yard personnel, and drivers, including dispatchers, supervisors, and foremen.
- Effective organizational and communication (verbal & written) skills are required.
- Attention to detail, and a good sense of time management.
- Independent decision-making skills.
- Ability to interface with all personnel in a positive, clear, and collaborative manner.
- Proficient at managing Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook is required.
- Building Materials and inventory management are preferred.
- Must be willing to work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime, as needed, to meet deadlines.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university, and or four years (4) related work experience in the lumber or building materials industry.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Work experience in the lumber or building materials industry. Multiple assignments in all phases of the business and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge/experience in building materials, procurement, inventory management, distribution efficiency, and supervision of people.
