Seeking a progressive, results-oriented professional to handle daily operations and administrative duties associated with the the Church Manager and Church Treasurer position. The manager will be responsible for performing duties as directed by the Pastor, including the management of daily schedules, and correspondence (written documents, voicemail, e-mail, regular mail). The Office Manager is also responsible for directing the daily operations of the Church with the responsibility for a wide range of administrative functions related to the efficient operation of the Church. The Treasurer position requires overseeing the control functions within the organization including financial reporting, accounting, and budgeting. Must have required knowledge of financial management practices and excellent organizational skills.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Church Office Manager

  • Performs all administrative functions necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the Church Office.
  • Confidentially establishes and maintains official records (electronic and hard copies) as described by church regulations and the Pastor.
  • Receives and makes telephone calls in a professional, timely, and courteous manner.
  • Prepares, mails, and files reports as needed from the Baltimore/Washington Conference (such as Charge Conference and Statistical Reports).
  • Provides timely response to church communications (phone calls, correspondence, emails, calendar events, distribution to the congregation via email sending service).
  • Maintains the Master Calendars.
  • Provides administrative support to the Pastor, church staff, and ministry chairpersons.
  • Monitors and order office and other required worship supplies.
  • Prior to scheduled absences coordinates volunteer substitutes for office manager position.

Church Treasurer

  • Records and monitors funds in church and preschool bank accounts.
  • Manages employee data for both church and preschool staff.
  • Completes Payroll for church staff and preschool workers.
  • Verifies and pays cash requests to ministry leads and disbursing funds for church operating and capital expenses.
  • Reconciles bank financial statements.
  • Records donations made to the church by individuals and organizations.
  • Prepares and presents monthly financial reports and statements of account to the church council, finance committee and the pastor.
  • Prepares monthly payroll tax returns and payments and yearly W-2 and 1099 statements, compliant with tax season deadlines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must demonstrate ability to prioritize and multi-task projects and assignments, using good time management skills in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.

Must have experience in drafting correspondence. Must possess a working knowledge of standard office equipment, including copiers, phone and fax machines.

Must demonstrate current working knowledge of computers and proficiency in software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel), QuickBooks, calendar software, database systems and use of the Internet.

Must possess efficient, caring, and perceptive telephone skills. Must possess the desire to support the Pastor in fulfilling responsibilities for effective management. Must possess critical thinking skills, problem solving, flexible decision-making.
