The Mission of the
Denver District Attorney's Office
is to professionally and completely prosecute crimes and investigate potential crimes on behalf of the people of the State of Colorado, and in doing so, do justice, advocate for victims' rights and advise and consult in the deterrence and prevention of crime; to ensure the open, evenhanded and humane administration of justice. The office employs approximately 100 attorneys and 150 support staff, who are responsible for more than 6,000 felony and 12,000 misdemeanor prosecutions annually. The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the City and County of Denver, and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current Denver District Attorney is Beth McCann. We are currently recruiting for a Young Adult Diversion Officer
The District Attorney's Office is seeking a Part Time Process Server to help support the legal and court activities by hand-delivering documents such as subpoenas, summons, contempt citations, and restraining orders to individuals involved in court cases.
This position will be responsible for:
  • Delivers various legal documents by hand to individuals involved with court cases ranging from summons and subpoenas to restraining orders. Collects the individual’s signature to confirm receipt of the document
  • Locate individuals to be served involved in court cases, typically using public records databases to identify their current whereabouts and contact information
  • Ability to adhere to rules and regulations - while locating individuals, delivering documents, and collecting signatures, process servers also need to ensure that they are following rules and regulations related to their duties
  • Maintains accurate delivery records for all documents handle, including records of signatures. Process servers may need to prepare reports related to their deliveries for use by lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals
  • Ability to research defendants and other involved parties and find their current address or place of work to deliver documents
  • Process servers work with legal professionals to support their activities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Personal Safety: aware of surroundings, people, and events
  • Subject to: traffic, roadways, and pedestrians.
  • Temperature Changes: variations in temperature from hot to cold when working in the field
About You
Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following:
  • Previous Law Enforcement experience
  • Current and/ or Pre POST (Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training) Certification

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: Familiar with legal and court procedures and understand the regulations related to serving summons and other documents to individuals.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: None
  • License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
