The Manager of Patient Accounts is responsible for enhancing and properly maintaining the functioning revenue cycle processes. Manages the daily operations including all administrative and patient financial activities to ensure high quality health care financial services. Works with team members to generate optimal revenue for HMC, providing training and insight whenever possible. Develops initiatives that focus on employee engagement, process improvement, and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and supports daily staff functions in the Patient Access, Health Information Management, and Patient Accounting departments.
- Handles day to day management of staff, including hiring, evaluation, training, coaching, and discipline.
- Maintain compliance standards for providing accurate information on all facility billing and acts as point of contact for such.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directives from regulatory agencies and third-party payers for accounts receivable, cash collections, and patient medical records.
- Uphold appropriate controls and safeguards of patient medical records and information to ensure that patient privacy is protected.
- Ensure that Revenue Cycle functions operate at optimal performance levels and provides input on areas of improvement.
- Verifies that billing is accurate and complete to ensure clean claims.
- Controls accounts receivable balances by ensuring timely follow up and resolution of patient accounts.
- Confirms that staff create accurate registrations.
- Assure that Medical Records charts are maintained to allow for accurate and complete coding.
- Ensure that Medical Records charts are coded timely and accurately, and that third-party payer contracts are adhered to and claims paid accordingly.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field, is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years management experience in healthcare finance is required.
- In-depth knowledge of hospital and physician billing and reimbursement is required.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry financial statistical indicators is required.
- Clear, effective communication skills and ability to influence others are required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Negotiating skills and problem-solving skills are required.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are required.
- Ability to successfully manage many projects and responsibilities simultaneously is required.
