JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) works under the supervision of the Clinical Manager. The primary functions of this position are to perform assistance tasks that allow clients to remain in the home. The PCA may perform simple personal care tasks as assigned.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Provides companion and general personal care services which enhance the patient’s comfort within their own environment.
Reports changes in the client’s condition and needs in a timely manner.
Completes documentation on appropriate forms.
Maintains confidentiality.
Adheres to the policies and procedures of the agency.
Performs household duties as designated.
Maintains a safe and clean patient environment.
Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance agency performance.
Participates in a minimum of 12 hours continuing education per employment year.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
Licensure / Certification: None.
Experience: Experience in caring for the geriatric population in a health care related setting preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements: Varied periods of sitting or standing, walking, lifting, stooping and bending.
Essential Mental Requirements: Ability to follow procedures, ability to work independently.
Essential sensory requirements: Visual acuity, touch, hearing.
Exposure to Hazards: Potentially unsanitary home environments. Potential travel in inclement weather. Potential interaction with pets in the home.
Other – Hours of Work: As assigned. May be asked to work weekends and holidays, as schedule permits.
