Job Summary:

The Peer Support Specialist's role is to support others in recovery with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD)and/or mental health disorder. Will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long term recovery. Will demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. Acts as a liaison between persons and staff. Relays information to medical doctors/clinicians and other staff to aid in problem solving. Coordinates responses to inquiries, as appropriate, to state and local partners. Conducts presentations and offers technical assistance to all stakeholders. Participates on committees, multidisciplinary care teams, and provides intern/patient training on peer service delivery. Documents information as directed.

Required: Certified Peer Support Specialist within 12 months of employment, High School Diploma
