Beloved Santa Cruz brand, The Penny Ice Creamery, has officially expanded to the Bay Area!

The Penny Ice Creamery makes ice cream completely from scratch, in house, using local and organic ingredients. We make unique flavors like Honey Lavender, Earl of Grey, and Raspberry Rose! We also make timeless flavors like Cookies n' Cream and Straight Up Strawberry, and our classics like Tahitian Vanilla Bean, Fresh Mint Chip, and Dark Chocolate Sorbet.

We are seeking Shift Leaders for our two new Bay Area locations:

Los Altos at the State Street Market (170 State St, Los Altos, CA 94022), and

Palo Alto at the Town and Country Village (855 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94301).

As a Shift Leader, you will create an excellent customer experience by scooping ice cream, making special items like ice cream sundaes and milkshakes, making tea and espresso drinks (proudly serving Verve Coffee!), and maintaining the shop. You will also become an expert in making fresh sugar cones and marshmallow fluff!

In addition to providing exceptional service, you will be a leader and a role model for the staff. During your shift, you will be responsible for maintaining the flow of business and the presentation of the shop, and for holding everyone to our high standards of service and product quality.

Requirements

• Skills include critical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, and leadership. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in leadership.
• Ability to work autonomously, both as a team player and as a leader.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Skills include attention to detail and follow-through.
• Available to work on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
• Able to work alone/ unsupervised.
• Available to work at least 20 hours a week on a reliable basis.
