Supervision
Reporting to the Coordinator of the Tarrant To and Through Partnership (T3), the Persistence Coach is responsible for assisting students’ efforts to achieve their educational goals while supporting their academic, socio-economical, and financial wellness development through the Tarrant To & Through (T3) program at Tarrant County College (TCC). The incumbent will co-lead a student caseload management model, helping develop student success strategies, and assist with overall T3 programming and operations. The Persistence Coach will work closely with the TCC T3 persistence team and other college stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and efficient system of support is in place to increase the number of T3 Scholars attending college, persisting through college, and attaining a degree or certification, or successfully transferring to a university.
The position will be an employee of TCC and funded by the Tarrant County Commissioner’s Court. The Persistence Coach is expected to be knowledgeable of the T3 Partnership guidelines and college responsibilities, adhere to any grant-funding requirements, provide support for T3 Scholars at all TCC campuses, and be engaged in all associated Tarrant County College District activities and programs. The T3 Persistence Coach will have access to TCC student and employee platforms, in addition to T3’s Salesforce platform and communication channels to effectively perform their duties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Performance Requirements*
- Responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience and helping to create a sense of belonging and connection for T3 Scholars to increase T3 Scholar access, enrollment, retention, and completion
- Manages assigned caseloads of T3 Scholars from when they decide to attend the partner institution through the successful completion of their educational plan with regular progress and wellbeing check-ins while helping students develop plans and strategies to address non-cognitive challenges or needs that could affect academic success
- Establishes trust with T3 Scholars while serving as a key point of contact for the program while assisting students with goal setting and solving problems as they arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence, and attendance
- Collaborates with the T3 Scholar’s academic advisor to ensure a solid academic plan and continued registration while also tracking academic progress for each term through regular communication
- Responsible for ensuring T3 Scholars remain in good academic standing for T3 (GPA, SAP, FAFSA/TASFA renewal, academic success plans, completing milestones) as well as serving as an Early Alert to develop strategies for students who are at risk of not persisting each semester
- Responsible for ensuring students complete all administrative actions to remain T3 eligible as well as ensuring they have access to and knowledge of all support resources applicable to them (e.g., TSIA prep, Financial Aid Assistance, co-curricular and leadership opportunities, first-generation and underrepresented programs)
- Assists with developing training, workshops, and resources for T3 Scholars while recruiting, hiring, and supervising student employees who will serve as Peer Mentors and help coordinate staff and volunteer mentoring initiatives
- Generates reports from T3 Scholar caseload data, including stumbling blocks encountered and recommendations for policy and process improvements as well as milestones that are highly correlated with student retention and completion
- Acts as supplemental transfer advisor to help students explore options, apply for scholarships, and meet transfer deadlines in collaboration with campus Transfer Centers as well as solicits and processes reinstatement appeals for students who do not meet the T3 renewal criteria
- Supports signature activities such as TCC T3 Summer Bridge Program, Transfer events, community service opportunities, T3 onboarding efforts, and celebrating educational milestones
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
- Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Coordinator of T3 – Persistence Coach.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) year of experience in advising/retention/mentoring in a college or university setting
- One (1) year of experience with First Year, New Student, or related programs
- One (1) year of experience in assisting students with career interest inventory assessments, exploration activities, or related programs
- Master’s degree
- Bilingual – Spanish
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of computerized systems and student software technologies
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations
- Skilled in excellent oral and written communication
- Skilled using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
- Ability to work with students of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel to area high schools and universities

Special Instructions Summary
This is a part-time grant-funded position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the renewal of grant funding.
