Photojournalist Job at KAKE
KAKE, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, has an opening for a Chief Photojournalist to lead our team of news photojournalists. The Chief Photojournalist will work with each photojournalist to enhance and improve their video recording and editing skills and ensure KAKE’s story-telling is the best it can be.
DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Supervise photojournalists, including hiring and other personnel issues
- Order equipment and supplies
- Make assignments and schedules
- Conduct quarterly photo workshops and review photojournalists’ work in a constructive way
- Shoot, light, and edit stories or other projects as assigned
- Drive and operate station vehicles, including live truck
- Travel long distances in the execution of assigned duties
- Be available on-call as assigned and schedule on-call photojournalists
- Interview and communicate information about news stories to Producers and Assignment Desk
- Post video on web and all mobile platforms
- Support and champion the KAKE News brand
- Win breaking news
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Photojournalist
- College degree in broadcast journalism is preferred
- Ability to work independently with excellent editorial judgment
- Good eyesight and hearing, ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs., walk long distances, and capable of handling stressful situations under deadlines
- Have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
