Denver’s Right of Way Services Sewer Use and Drainage Permits (SUDP) team is seeking a Plans Review Specialist I (PRS I) to be part of a diverse and talented team. The SUDP team is responsible for ensuring land development projects meet or exceed the City's wastewater requirements resulting in functional high-quality infrastructure in the City. This position is a full-time position with excellent benefits and opportunities for remote work.
Be part of a team of eight Plan Review Specialists and a Permit Review Technician, in the daily delivery of the review and issuance of Sewer Use and Drainage Permits for development projects within the City and County of Denver.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Complete SUDP plan review intake and triage for all SUDP permits resolving common questions and problems for staff, consultants, contractors, and the public.

Review standard entry level Wastewater Permits for conformance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Work collaboratively with your team to achieve team, City, and organizational goals.

Provide a strong customer centered focus in the delivery of all services, including in person, phone, email, and virtual platforms.

Participation in team, organization, or City-wide process innovation and improvement.
About You
Ideal Candidate:
-
Previous front-line experience as a plan or permit review technician/specialist for construction permits with successful resolution of complex customer design issues that conflict with applicable codes, standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Wastewater review experience preferred but not required.

The demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
-
Adept at de-escalation in challenging situations while being calm, adaptable, and flexible under pressure.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and the willingness to address challenges in a direct manner with both internal and external customers.

Detail-oriented, accountable, and able to effectively use the Microsoft Office Suite and other tools or software programs to successfully manage daily work.

Demonstrated successful participation in team, organizational, or City process innovation and/or improvement.

Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field.

Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of plans review experience reviewing blueprints and plans for zoning and construction projects with regard to the compliance of zoning and construction codes and regulations.

Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
