Our first launched product, OnWood™ 1.0 is a revolutionary product that qualifies as an Interior Type A (HT) fire retardant wood in accordance with AWPA Standard U1. It is targeted at commercial and resident construction, including interior light-frame use cases such as roof systems, trusses, studs, flooring, joists, blocking, furring, and more. OnWood™ is made with a completely green formulation that is eco-friendly and contains no hazardous chemicals, heavy metals, or environmental toxins. OnWood™ is manufactured today primarily using sustainably harvested wood from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI ®) certified forests, or other comparably eco-certified sources.

You will hit the ground running (sprinting) as you join our highly personable, accomplished, and entrepreneurial, Ph.D Engineering and Ph.D. Chemistry R&D Chiefs-led dynamic R&D team based out of our own growing T2E LAB and Factory #1 in Augusta, Georgia. Our team focuses on driving some of the most ground-breaking wood science R&D in the world with a hands-on combination of science-based and innovation-driven product and process development.

We expect your maintenance and operations experience will go beyond our R&D lab as an active member of our management team steering mission-critical projects and responsible for multiple new wood science and chemistry-based capabilities platforms development, product innovation, and scaling our first-to-market OnWood™ product and production facilities and will include working closely with members of the T2EARTH team in operations, marketing, and sales as we accelerate market acceptance and revenue growth. Job Description: The Plant Maintenance Engineer (PME) is responsible for the overall operating performance of the plant. Work is often multi-disciplined and requires close coordination with manufacturing management as well as other Leadership Team Members in other departments and outside agencies. The engineer prepares planning, scheduling, and technical specifications and utilizes project management tools to ensure projects meet safety, quality, performance, and budget requirements.

The PME plans and organizes contract staff, indirect labor, and control systems that impact all warehouse engineering and plant maintenance activities. The partnership and motivation of all plant employees are also key responsibilities. The PME is accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives regarding cost, schedule, and quality. The PME will be responsible for developing Increased Reliability Systems that encompasses,(TPM) Total Productive Maintenance Principles.

The PME advises the Plant Director of the necessary information system required for unique or special applications consistent with the goals to obtain a robust process that maximizes Operations Effectiveness and Efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Development and Engineering.
  • Actively Hands on Troubleshooting and Corrective Action of Reactive, Planned, and Predictive Maintenance Work Orders.
  • Envisions and develops project concept
  • Solicits and documents current and future facilities’ infrastructural requirements and inputs for desired outputs
  • Utilizes technical skills, experience, and education to determine loads, speeds, energy requirements, etc.
  • Develops, controls, and maintains a project budget and timeline. (Gantt Chart)
  • Develops project specifications and full bid or construction packages
  • Uses CE standards and may be asked to write new ones

Project Execution:

  • Manage contractors on site ensuring that corporate and plant policies such as safety, ethics, environmental, etc. are enforced.
  • Take full responsibility for all contractor activities; act as the primary liaison between Corporate Engineering and plant management; minimize disruption to normal plant activities and communicate any necessary disruptions to management in advance.
  • Perform Quality Control function, inspecting all contractor work and vendor-supplied equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, timeline requirements, etc., issued in the bid package.

Project Administration:

  • Seek approvals from Management to proceed with expenditures required to expand or maintain manufacturing facilities.
  • Combine specifications, standards, drawings, and other documentation into bid packages and solicit equipment and services bids.
  • Track and maintain control of approved project expenditures. Accountable for the project budget.
  • Issue requisitions and approve receipts/invoices.
  • Publish periodic project reports. (Weekly and Monthly)
  • Prepare Asset Detail documents and submit them to Corporate Assets for timely capitalization of new equipment.
  • Assemble completed project file documents and archive them per Industry Engineering Standards.

Technical Resource:

  • Provide troubleshooting services for existing manufacturing systems and processes. Recommend and/or evaluate potential process improvements; assemble or serve on process improvement teams, and accident investigation teams.
  • Participate and support efforts regarding initiatives for Energy and Reliability.
  • Have knowledge of the design of mechanical and/or electrical systems in an industrial environment.
  • Possess strong working knowledge of the OSHA safety and construction standards, applicable ANSI. ASME, and/or NEC codes and standards.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 4-year Engineering degree (ME or EE preferred) with 2+ years related experience OR High School Diploma and 5+ years industrial project management experience or comparable Military training and Certification.
  • Depending on the candidate’s experience level, this job may be filled as a Project Engineer or a Sr. Project Engineer
  • Experience and knowledge of chemical assembly line treatment manufacturing and warehouse procedures and activities.
  • A complete understanding of the engineering and technical aspects of the manufacturing and wood products industry is desirable.
  • Must be able to work required overtime, including being on-call.
  • Must have good managerial skills.
  • Must be able to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to be the project scheduling champion, and experience with project scheduling software is a plus
  • Must be able to organize and effectively lead meetings.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drawings is a plus (able to work in the software)
  • Significant wood kiln experience is desirable. Sawmill Maintenance Engineers would also qualify.
