Position Purpose:
The Plant Manager is a front-line lead for the production of manufactured sheds and barns: a person who plans, organizes, and oversees the operations of the shop; has a deep knowledge of construction; oversees, guides, and directs independent contractors; provides advice to management; keeps in constant communication with the Director of Operations and other staff as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

Shop:

  • Direct contact for inspectors, builders, painters, helpers, and roofers
  • Perform consistent shop and equipment inspections to determine and implement short-term and long-term repair and rebuild schedules and deadlines
  • Emphasizes safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment while providing training on safety procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee monthly inventory count; provide purchasing requests; order and receive materials when needed
  • Meets with individual contractors to align responsibilities and project deadlines
  • Will coordinate, but is Out of Scope: Purchasing, Sales, Finance, and Service
  • Conduct meetings with the independent contractors for updates on work performed

Administration:

  • Works closely with the Director of Operations, e.g., production status
  • Recruiting, hiring, and guiding independent contractors
  • Captures information and maintain records on received damaged material for credit
  • Maintains ShedCloud page for accuracy Performs daily analysis to predict potential inventory problems

Safety:

  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures, including PPE
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the Director of Operations

Team Responsibilities:

  • Guides independent contractors
  • Effectively oversees the day-to-day coordination to ensure all independent contractors are working efficiently and effectively

  • All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of construction management
  • Skill at the advanced level, working with Google Suite, Drive, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Ability to work closely with independent contractors regarding individual responsibilities and projects
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and miscommunications quickly and amicably
  • Ability to be proficient with multitasking

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Operations or Construction Management, preferred

Experience: 5 or more years’ experience in Construction Management

Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; shop tools and machinery

Posture: Sporadic sitting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional heavy lifting and carrying (less than 100 lbs.)
Environment: Works in a warehouse/shop/plant setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
