About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.

Position Purpose: The Upper Main Line YMCA is seeking an experienced Pool Operations Mechanic to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities for the benefit of our members, staff and community.

Responsibilities: Members for maintenance related issues

• Daily chemical check on all pools, including hot tub/spa, during every shift.
• Maintain daily chemical log sheets and pump room log books on all pools.
• Obtain Certified Pool Operator and Pesticide license within first 60 days.
• Responsible for facilitating/adding all chemicals required in order to keep pools balanced
• Provide quick response service to all staff and YMCA.
• Monitor pool facilities and equipment conditions daily and request/suggest replacement or make repairs.
• Maintain all Y pool related equipment in clean and proper working order (ie pool vacuums)
• All pools and boilers must be checked upon arrival to ensure they are properly working/report any problems to supervisor.
• Trouble shooting and coordinating with Senior Facility Director to determine if outsourced contractors are needed.
• Have all necessary equipment to open and close pools in a neat, central location prior to work (ie leaves, painting, power washing, water clarification, equipment checks, pool coverings, etc).
• Must be available to supervise and assist Facility staff or outside contractors on any pool work
• Complete assigned work orders and document work performed
• Maintain pool related PM schedule, document work performed
• Complete projects according to schedule
• Be available to attend meetings, trainings, classes or seminars that relate to enhancing trade/construction skills and member service
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Three years of experience in pool operations and/or maintenance required
• Mechanical and electrical experience required
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Must obtain Class 24 Pesticide Certification within 60 days of hire
• Must obtain Certified Pool Operator (C.P.O.) within 60 days of hire
• Must have above average knowledge of one of the trades (ie: plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, masonry, painting, landscaping, electrical and other wiring, general construction, etc.)
