Position Highlights

The Materials Science and Engineering department (MSE) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise and/or interest in high temperature structural materials, additive manufacturing, and materials characterization. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to the testing of metallic materials and microstructural characterization. This position is full-time, and on-site at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead a research project in close collaboration with the PI on additive manufacturing of high temperature structural alloys. Innovate new areas of inquiry and advance materials characterization techniques and data analysis. Apply for independent funding and contribute to grant proposals submitted by the PI. Present research findings in meetings and publish in scientific journals; maintain detailed records and datasets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical testing and microstructural characterization (SEM, EBSD, TEM, etc.).
  • Skills in preparing, writing, editing and revising research articles.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Materials Science and Engineering

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical testing and micro-structural characterization.
