Power & Recovery Supervisor– Tacoma Paper Mill

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Direct supervision of 22-25 union hourly personnel on rotating 12 hours shifts, responsible for the operation of two paper machines and stock preparation (1200 tpd), quality control lab, shipping, and 550 tpd recycle facility. Ensure personnel safety, environmental compliance, optimize production at or above plan, minimize costs, increase uptime, and reduce waste.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Set the standards and responsibilities for a safe work culture.
· Manage essential operation functions through leadership of hourly personnel.
· Communicate with Shift Mill Manager and day management staff to assure continuity of efforts.
· Provide Clear Expectations for Housekeeping and Department Performance to all operating personnel.
· Develop training standards and individual training plans for each employee.
· Develop and improve standard operating procedures to ensure continuity between crews.
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED:
· 3+ years of Paper Industry experience.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong leadership skills leading change management to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
· Ability to drive improvement in employee performance
· Ability to multitask and reprioritize as operating conditions change
· Ability to manage conflict
· Experience with Microsoft office products
QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED:
· Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or Paper Science (Bio Resource) Engineering
· Experience as a Pulp or Paper Production Supervisor, Process Engineer, or Production Engineer.
· Experience with Microsoft office products
· Ability to lead and motivate others
· Ability to lead others into safe work practices
· Supervisory experience
· Ability to help develop subordinate skill levels
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
· Demonstrated creative problem solver
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and pressure demands

· Proactive and skilled at recognizing potential areas for improvement

· Willing to challenge Mill management in safety and environmental concerns
OTHER INFO:
· Shift Hours: Rotating (compressed 12 hour shifts) two days, two nights and then four days off.
· Flexibility to changing rotation schedule as needed.
· Additional coverage as dictated by business needs at the discretion of the department manager.
