SUMMARY: PaperWorks Industries is looking for a full-time printing press operator #2. The Press Operator will be responsible for maintaining the press in a safe and sound condition. The press operator will also be responsible for regular maintenance and up keep of the press, roller settings, and maintaining the quality of product being produced off the press. The Press Operator will be responsible for following the plant processes and plant standard operating procedures. The Press Operator will assist the Printing Press Operator #1 in setup and operations of press to meet customer requirements by performing the following duties.
Summary of essential job functions:
- Reads the assigned job specification sheets and understands all requirements and variables.
- Organizes stock to be printed.
- Checks type, size, caliper, and grain direction of stock to be run.
- Sets up feeder and delivery to the correct stock size.
- Assists in installing plates and blankets.
- Maintains ink in fountains and water in circulators.
- Operates feeders and makes changes as needed for press to run efficiently.
- Assists in plate removal and blanket and roller cleanup.
- Maintains supplies at machines, type and press wash for cleaning.
- Maintains cleanliness of machinery and area around it.
- Responsible for learning the Printing Press Operator #1 position.
- Must be capable of keeping accurate records, including the completion of all required forms; and the accurate use of different measuring devices, and all other applicable gauges for your responsibilities.
- Must follow all applicable procedures and make recommendations for system improvements as identified.
Three (3) years of Press Operator experience is prefered
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to a year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to make-ready the press
Firm understanding of color matching
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
