The responsibilities and duties of a Case Manager for the Behavioral Health Court (BHC) are as follows:
- responsible for the overall supervision of participants of Behavioral Health Court as well as the linking, monitoring and coordinating of treatment, rehabilitation services and other collateral services. A key monitoring task is effective and ongoing communication with service providers and collaborating agencies and individuals.
- responsible for the ongoing evaluation of strengths, risks and needs of the participant and the development and updating of the individual’s case management plan.
- responsible for documenting the progress of individual cases in the BHC case management system.
- attends weekly court staffing(s) and provides a summary report on all individuals on his/her caseload, providing information on client progress, treatment plan, and makes any recommendations for sanctions, incentives, successful discharge, and termination.
- must provide court testimony regarding any participant’s status of compliance with the BHC program.
- will conduct home visits, in conjunction of the Field Officer, to verify living conditions meeting program standards. The position requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Upon appropriate training, the Case Manager may be required to provide initial screening to help in determining a defendant’s eligibility in the BHC program and/or to screen possible participants.
The candidate will provide observed drug screen monitoring while following chain of custody procedures.
The position requires fluency in Word, Excel and other software programs.
The successful candidate must take and pass a certification examination for the Indiana Risk Assessment and must also complete an orientation for Case Managers through the Indiana Judicial Center within one year of the date of employment.
The position requires working outside the traditional County work hours.
Position requirements: A baccalaureate degree, or higher, in criminal justice or a human services field from an accredited university or college, or employment by a problem- solving court as a case manager/probation officer before July 1, 2010.
Personal Work Relationships: Incumbent maintains frequent contact with Superior 1 Court Staff, County Prosecutors, Public Defense attorneys, Criminal Justice Center Staff, and Jail Staff.
