Process Control/ Automation Engineer

Location- Norwalk, CT & Waterbury, CT

King Industries, Inc. is actively seeking to hire a Process Controls/ Automation Engineer within our Engineering Department. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, as well as five years’ experience in process controls design and troubleshooting in the process industries, preferable in chemical manufacturing.

Skills Required:

  • Regular and consistent attendance at our Norwalk location is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, persistence, good judgement, and attention to detail.
  • Practical experience, knowledge and ability to design and trouble shoot electrical and electronic controls instruments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in process controls design and troubleshooting in the chemical process industry.
  • Ability to plan and implement automation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with process control development at King Industries, Inc. second site in Waterbury, CT.
  • Develop or assist with developing process control systems, instrumentation design, controls logic, and wiring schemes for new automation projects and upgrades.
  • Specify and procure instruments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining pneumatic/electronic controls, electrical instruments and equipment.
  • Design, program, and troubleshoot distributed control systems.
  • Assist with providing and maintaining wiring diagrams.
  • Provide I & C guidance for process hazards reviews (PHAs) as assigned, including ISA S84 SIS/SIL safety instrumented systems assessments.
  • Provide instrumentation and process controls front end loading (FEL) leadership for projects and engineering changes (MOC).
