Summary of Job

The Packaging Manager position’s responsibilities include initiating, planning, executing, and controlling product packaging projects to deliver departmental strategic objectives. The Packaging Manager will also participate in cross-functional teams to support new product introductions, structural design optimization and cost out programs. Major tasks in this role include program/project management, strategic sourcing, supplier qualification and management, developing resource planning and budgeting and oversight of packaging engineering staff. As a subject matter expert in packaging, this position will also be required to support daily business transactions to resolve packaging deficiencies, supplier quality issues or sourcing cost out. The Packaging Manager will be responsible for complex projects with higher risks and business implications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

§ Provide packaging support for all new and existing products.

§ Identify, plan, execute, and control packaging projects to deliver strategic business needs for growth, productivity, cost out and quality.

§ Advise and consult on packaging best practices to enhance business performance.

§ Direct corrective actions with service providers and suppliers to resolve packaging issues.

§ Deliver training (internally and externally), tailored to the needs of the specific audience.

§ Provide data analytics to support annual resources, budgeting, and program progress.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications

§ Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or Supply Chain Management.

§ Desire advanced certifications (Project Management Professional, 6 Sigma, or Certified Packaging Professional).

§ Operational experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

§ Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and present data.

§ The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

§ Minimum of 5 years of experience in Packaging Procurement or Packaging Engineering

Physical Requirements

§ The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection.

§ The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).

Technical Skills

§ Microsoft Office (including Outlook)

§ Microsoft Teams

§ Understanding of ERP and Planning systems is a must.

§ Ability to produce and interpret analytical reports.

Soft Skills

§ Excellent verbal & written communication skills suitable for the management of liaison duties with senior management, department heads, co-workers, and customers

§ Ability to lead meetings and present findings before a group.

§ Able to be a key contributor in a team environment; be able to work towards a common objective while sharing knowledge, ideas, and information; effective at managing people and projects.

§ Capable of taking on duties with a positive attitude and can respond to management and customer requests in a timely manner.

§ Must be prepared to meet business goals and respond well to change.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
