JOB PURPOSE:

Manage team of engineers providing production and continuous improvement engineering support for the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing and packaging site.

  • Production Engineers initiate and drive continuous improvement efforts, including in performance (OEE), Scrap reduction, Process Improvement, as well as execute projects in safety and quality, in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Continuous Improvement Engineers responds to production quality deviation, performing investigations using various Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to identify root causes and execute appropriate Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA).

Production engineering manager will instill a Process Excellence culture through involving and educating all levels and functions of employees in Lean Sigma principles, concepts, methodology, initiatives, and tools. This position will align with site leadership to provide leadership and oversight for initiatives which facilitate and drive change to improve efficiency, and effectiveness, bottom line performance of the site or business area and build a quality-focused culture of continuous improvement. Provide leadership and mentoring of other site-based engineers.

MAJOR DUTIES:


  • Coordinates and leads Production Engineering team in executing projects aimed at performance improvement, waste reduction etc.
  • Monitors and ensures on time deviation report submission and effectiveness of CAPAs initiated from Continuous Improvement team
  • Assist the team in breaking work into manageable pieces, helping the team manage capacity, work estimates and ensure the team's accountability to their goals
  • Monitor team's workload and progress towards project goals. Identify and assist with removing dependencies and impediments for the team as they arise
  • Escalate risks to team leadership as needed for assistance
  • Facilitate conversations on how the team is trending against the overall roadmap, goals, and objectives
  • Monitors projects through the control phase and report results to site leadership

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Knowledge of cGMPs and previous exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound decision making skills, and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring skills, and advocating and documenting best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, relationship-building and documentation skills with strong computer literacy.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply Lean Sigma principles highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong listening skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written procedures and standards governing manufacturing processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or similar role, minimum 2 years managerial experience highly preferred.

Note: Must be able to wear negative and/or positive pressure respirators daily for long periods of time, be medically cleared to wear respirators without restrictions, and be clean shaven to seal area of the tight-fitting respirator.


Salary Range: $125,000 to $140,000
