Description:
The Program Director provides overall coordination and client center services for grades K-5. The Director would design and implement social and leadership development opportunities, academic support and life skills workshops for youth that are served through the program. The Program Director will work closely with the school administration team and would meet all program benchmarks and outcomes as dictated by funding source(s) and/or agency regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Programmatic: Directors are responsible for full compliance and accountability of program including:
- Oversees day-to-day operations of funded programs
- Recruit & retain student
- Directs, coordinates, and monitors implementation of all youth program services at respective school, with the support of Program Coordinator, Educational Specialist.
- Provide creative and engaging activities and workshops
- Create and maintain relationships with school principle and administrators.
- Manages program budget.
- Reviews, approves, and certifies youth intake applications.
- Monitors youth participant files for accuracy and data validation.
- Utilizes evaluation tools to gather data and measure program’s outcomes.
Leadership: Program Director is responsible to lead every aspect of program to assure work is in line with Riis Settlement’s mission, objectives and theory of change:
- Help continually form and articulate a program vision that fits the needs of the School, community, the mission of Riis Settlement and the resources available or attainable.
- Develop a logic model and action plan with clear deliverables in coordination with Director of School- Based Youth programs.
- Implement and monitor high quality and relevant programming.
- Play an active role in promoting cross program collaboration.
- Contribute to overall organizational objectives through teamwork and coordination.
- Adhere to supervisors expectations; keep supervisor updated on all programmatic information (contract updates, staff updates, etc.), Inform supervisor of any external meetings two weeks in advance by submitting bi-weekly work schedule; follow training/conference request procedure prior to scheduling; Leave must be requested three (3) weeks in advance; schedule changes must be requested one (1) week in advance.
- Other duties as needed by supervisor and Executive Director.
Budget Management: Director is responsible for the full cycle of program budgeting including:
- Develop and monitor budgets & prepare budget modifications as needed.
- Monitor program expenses—especially part-time staffing and non-personnel expenses.
- Procure needed supplies, equipment and services within appropriate timeframes.
- Plan according to budget, agency cash flow needs and protocol.
- Ensure 100% spending of allocated funds.
- Obtain supervisor’s final approval before submitting any budgets to funders (this includes budget renewals and budget modification.
Staff Management: Program Director is responsible for the identification of staffing needs and selection, supervision, disciplining and professional development of staff. This includes:
- Identify open positions and follow hiring and training procedures in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement a staff development plan.
- Assure that all mandatory training is completed and tracked.
- Supervise staff by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior and holding regular individual and team meetings.
- Administer and reinforce personnel policies and procedures.
- Review timesheets and work schedules to be in compliance with budgets, plans and protocol.
- Act as a link between the administrative office and program staff.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Address staff issues and discipline as appropriate.
- Administer and reinforce personnel policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all staff members are adhering to his/her approved work schedule and swipe in and out accordingly.
- Hiring, training, disciplining and evaluating must be tracked via email or paper documents, on time and as mandated by agency policy and procedure or administrative directive.
Requirements:
- Appropriate background to provide leadership in service area of focus.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish & English)
- Creative, strategic, and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated leadership and teambuilding skills.
- Experienced in developing and managing budgets.
- Knowledge of some of the Human Resource functions including: hiring, training, supervising and assessing personnel.
- Strong and polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Bachelor degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Must have or pursue School Age Children Care License & maintain status throughout employment.
- Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Must be able to work comfortably in Excel in order to develop and manage budgets as well as track program activity.
- Performs other duties as required.
