across LA County.
Position Description
LISC Los Angeles seeks a professional to fill the position of Program Officer (PO) for the Economic Development Department. The PO will be responsible for supporting the underwriting of small business loans and recoverable grants, while also leading deal originations, community relationship management, and pipeline
development for the small business lending program in Los Angeles. They focus of the portfolio serves small business loans in Los Angeles with a focus on entrepreneurs of color.
Responsibilities:
- Support the underwriting and review process for small business loans and recoverable grants for the LA market
- Help to originate and deploy a up to $3 million in small business or economic development loans annually
- Represent LISC LA on local advisory committees and regional collaboratives of local small business assistance partners and work to administer the goals outlined in said collaboratives
- Work with local partners to establish new tech-based mechanisms to streamline borrower experiences and improve access to available capital across the County of LA
- Develop and maintain referral relationships with banks, micro-lenders, TA providers, and government officials
- Educate community partners about LISC LA product offerings
- Coordinate with Economic Development Lending teams locally and nationally on program and outreach strategies in priority communities
- In 2023, the role may also incorporate aspects of asset management duties for the recoverable grant portfolio
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required- concentration in community development, finance, or similar field a plus;
- 3 years of work experience in community economic development, especially in Los Angeles
- Experience directly working with small businesses, especially businesses lead by people of color in LA
- Experience in underwriting or financial analysis a plus
- Proven track record of working on complex programs requiring intensive analysis
- Ability to work independently and with a team, working on numerous projects at the same time
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter; creative problem solver; and relationship builder
