POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, develops and implements assigned engineering projects, under the general supervision of the Vice President of Engineering, in a manner consistent with good engineering practices and the policies of the company. Maintains files, data and drawings of all projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Estimates costs of proposed project, including material and labor. Provides information to Vice President of Engineering.
For each assigned project:
Upon acceptance of bid or award of new job, plans and directs the costing, mold building, testing, manufacturing review, product release and production start up. Acts as customer technical liaison to assure product produced meets customer’s requirements. Monitors and coordinates all aspects of project to bring product to approved for production status. Advises Vice President of Engineering if projects runs above expected cost or over allotted time frame.
· Assures that billing is sent to Accounting department in a timely fashion.
· Develops and maintains complete project files and drawings.
· Prepares bids and equipment specifications and assists purchasing staff with the purchase of complex equipment, when the equipment purchase requires engineering expertise.
· Plans, schedules, coordinates all activities required to accomplish the objectives of the project including meetings with and presentations to customer representatives, Fabrïk employees from other departments also working on the project as well as sub-contractors that may be necessary to engage for portions of the project.
· Prepares and presents information required to effectively communicate the progress and results of activity, completes all necessary paperwork to obtain approvals for production.
· Chairs the APQP meetings.
· Works with the Quality Department to develop procedures for inspecting and testing parts including development of the PIB to assure that instructions are complete and accurate.
· Works with Packing Department to develop packaging that meets customer requirements.
· When project is ready to go to production, schedules and presents PSO to the Production Personnel.
Once a project has transitioned to production, Project Engineer is still responsible to monitor all assigned projects on an ongoing basis to assure continuing conformance to all requirements, including, but not limited to, customer requirements, and test requirements, approvals, cost and profitability requirements, including product cost reduction or price changes of components used to produce the part.
Also responsible for working with customer on requested revision changes, needed tool work and other ongoing issues that may arise.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
· Knowledge of design methods, engineering methods, engineering materials and plastics manufacturing
· Emphasis on Project Management
· Experience with Machines, tools, equipment, 3D Design Software and AutoCAD preferred
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project
· Ability to effectively communicate in person as well as in writing with all members of the team, including customers and suppliers.
Education, Certification and Experience:
· Requires a Bachelor Degree in Engineering Discipline, with a focus in Plastics and/or Manufacturing or Industrial Technology
· Number of years of experience: 8 years in similar environment is preferred
