GENERAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES

Central Piedmont is currently seeking a PT Lab Assistant II position in the CCE Hospitality Education department located on Central Campus , Phillip Van Every Building.


Lab Assistant II will assist with preparing the cooking labs for classes, checking inventory, cleaning up after classes, and assisting the Chef during classes.


Anticipated hiring date: June 1, 2023

Work Schedule: Monday -Saturday

Hours per week: 20 - 29


General Function

Plans and coordinates laboratory activities to support instructional programs.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Monitors laboratory/clinical/on-line activities; enforces rules and regulations
and ensures safe environment.
2. Monitors students in a lab setting.
3. Prepares facility for classes and ensures that work areas are clean and neat; ensures
that equipment, materials, and handouts are laid out for classes.
4. Assists in maintaining laboratory equipment; performs simple maintenance, cleans and
stores equipment when not in use, monitors condition, and notifies supervisor of any
needed repairs; ensures students maintain proper handling and cleaning of equipment.
5. Monitors inventory of materials and supplies, initiates ordering process as needed; ensures students use only specified inventory and that all products adhere to FIFO practices.
6. Assists instructors in preparing and monitoring student lab assignments.
7. Ensures laundry room is organized and prepares towels for morning classes and ensue dining room service jackets are cleaned.
8.Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED and ServSaf Certification


Preferred Qualifications:

Culinary or Baking and Pastry Student American Culinary Federation Certification

American Culinary Federation Member

Have working knowledge of recipe and method cars and able to set up demonstrations and assist in demonstrating basic cooking and baking procedures.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary for this position is $15.00. Classification type is Classified. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours, evening and weekend assignments may be required of any position. All positions are subject to budget approval.
