Scope of Responsibility: The QC Supervisor has the responsibility for the daily operation of the Quality Control Department. He is responsible for assigning all work activities to personnel assigned to the department. He is responsible to resolve quality issues as they arise between departments. He will coordinate inspections with third party inspectors. He will assist in the creation and maintenance of quality procedures. The QC Supervisor will maintain and monitor the welding qualification program to assure compliance.
Essential Duties:

• Review the following documentation for accuracy, completeness and legibility:
• Inspection reports
• Travelers
• Red tags
• Timecards

• To interface and resolve issues with other departments as they relate to quality
• To create work instructions and procedures for the QC department
• To assure and verify the Welding program meets the AWS requirements including:
• Creation of the required PQR’s
• Initiation of any required WPS’s
• Verify the welder qualification tests

• To spend time on the production floor assisting and training the inspectors
• To train subordinates in their inspection activities and requirements
• To support, follow and enforce Sabre's Safety Program

Position Requirements:

• Have a minimum 5 year quality inspection experience related to weld and dimensional inspections
• High School Diploma or GED
• Have a minimum of 80 hours formal training in Ultrasonic Inspection and 24 hours formal training in Magnetic Particle Inspection methods
• Must be able to read and write in the English language
• Be able to read and interpret design drawings (blueprints)
• Be able to read and understand procedures, specifications and standards
• Have a workable knowledge of the American Welding Society AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel
• Be able to write work procedures or work instructions
• Be able to supervise subordinates ensuring all procedures are followed and that the policies of Sabre Industries are complied with
• Must meet the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A for Level II certification in the ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection methods
• Be certified (or previously certified) as an AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
• Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
• Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
