Position Summary:

  • The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting the Company’s quality initiatives by performing visual and dimensional inspections and documentation reviews to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
  • This position reports to the Quality Manager in Wheeling, IL.
  • This is a full time, on-site, split-shift position (10am-6:30pm) and may require some overtime, shift start time is negotiable.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Follows established procedures and guidelines to check, test and inspect materials and products, in process and in Final Inspection to assure compliance to specifications.
  • Conducts and develop tests, records results, and prepares technical reports to ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Performs first piece inspections.
  • Daily interaction with Production, Engineering and Materials personnel reviewing nonconforming issues and working to improve processes.
  • Utilizes quality techniques and practices for driving improvements throughout the manufacturing process using problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively use all necessary measuring tools in order to verify conformance. (CMM, micrometers, calipers, gage pins, thread and height gages)
  • Assists in maintaining calibration system and tools.
  • Conducts employee training.
  • Participates on quality improvement teams.
  • Read and understand engineering prints/drawings including GD&T.
  • Uses basic math and problem solving abilities.
  • Follows instructions and is self-sufficient in routine assigned tasks.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.

Experience:

  • 0-3 years in a manufacturing environment, will consider new graduate with technical education including Quality fundamentals training
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems and MS Word and Excel


Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Minimum High school diploma, Associates degree preferred
  • ASQ or other quality certifications
