Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM is seeking a Software Engineer for a position at T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. The ideal candidate will have expertise in HTML, Db2, Java, with the goal of developing, improving, optimizing, and maintaining a production management system for semiconductor prototyping and nanomanufacturing lines. Advanced knowledge of the principles behind semiconductor processing, wafer handling, cleanroom operations, and general unit process development is a plus. The candidate is expected to work closely with interdisciplinary engineering and research teams. Good communication skills and the ability to handle fast-paced, complex work is essential.
5+ years of demonstrated success managing large complex projects.
Hands-on experience with GitHub, Zenhub, JIRA and other project management tools.
Excellent communication, negotiation, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Team player with a flexible mindset and ability to adapt to changes.
A self-motivated and driven individual who can work independently as well as in multi-team settings.
This position can be located anywhere in the US.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and or equivalent work experience
- Continuous Delivery/Integration: Tekton, Argo CD, Travis CI, Jenkins
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes Advanced skills in Red Hat OpenShift
- Source code management and proficient in GitHub
- Monitoring tools, e.g, LogDNA, Sysdig
- Cloud platform e.g, IBM Cloud, Azure, AWS, Cloud Databases
- Infrastructure as Code, using tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef
- Automation Testing tools e.g. Selenium, JUnit
- Coding & shell scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby, YAML
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Core security principles such as key and secrets management, IAM and access control, vulnerability checks
- Familiar with or has implemented SRE principles
- Knowledge in Test-Driven Development
- Core capabilities in provisioning and maintaining Database
- Linux administration knowldege, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Experience in working on Qiskit and demonstrated contributions to the SDK
- Contributions in developer ecosystem/communities and open source projects
- Good communication skills

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
