Responsibilities:
- 30% Performs radiologic procedures as assigned adhering to prescribed techniques
- 30% Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or other radiologic scanning procedures. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient/participant, adjusts lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient's/participant's body, adjusts cone to direct concentration of rays on specific area, and selects proper film
- 5% Prepares, assesses, and observes patient/participant for procedures and possible reactions or outcomes
- 5% Transports patients/participants within department, to and from waiting area, as required
- 5% Processes images, film, and/or other scanning documentation in accordance to guidelines and photographic technique. Performs quality control activities to ensure optimal quality radiographs
- 5% Troubleshoots and reports equipment problems to supervisor
- 5% Cleans and disinfects patient/participant rooms and equipment to maintain highest quality safety and cleanliness standards
- 5% Performs PET CT Studies and administration of tracers
- 5% Performs imaging studies on large and small animal patients
- 5% Perform fluoroscopy exams and mobile x-ray on patients as needed
Tasks:
- Assists in developing and revising technical operating procedures and protocols
- Assists in teaching technical aspects of radiography to fourth year students
- Assists with radiography training in regard to equipment usage and patient positioning for residents, technologists,radiologists, and other staff as needed
- Ensures charges are correctly entered into the computer system
- Ensures high standard of excellence in radiograph images in maintained by evaluating each image for technical quality and repeat images that do not meet that standard
- Ensures images and data in the PACS and RIS are correct and current
- Ensures imaging procedures are performed in a timely and efficient manner
- Maintains staff and clinician safety by adhering to and enforcing safety protocols pertaining, but not limited to MRI and CT imaging
- Participate in rotating on-call shifts for the teaching hospital as needed
- Participates in receiving schedules and monitoring workload to prevent delays in client appointments
- Provides advice and technical support to technical staff, as well as practitioners who phone with technical questions
- Provides student orientation on the first day of the rotation as needed
- Responsible for participating in other duties as needed or assigned
- Transfers, shares, and imports images as needed for use within UWVC and outside clinics

Qualifications:
Licensed in other cross-sectional modalities, preferably PET CT and MRI. Previous large and small animal handling experience preferred.
License/Certification:

Work Schedule:
Hours within Monday-Friday, 8AM-5:30PM. Exact schedule to be determined with candidate.
Potential for on-call hours as required by the hospital.
