Job Description
Prepare, maintain and distribute manual/computerized Law Enforcement and Public Records. Provide assistance for all divisions in the Police Department. Handle and maintain confidential information.

- Provide assistance to walk-in citizens
- Handle citizen inquiries or directs inquiries to appropriate personnel
- Handle telephone calls or directs calls to appropriate personnel
- Process and maintains offense, citation, arrest, supplemental, accident, juvenile, and criminal justice information reports
- Verify data from police officers reports for accuracy
- Verify reports accuracy in compliance with Uniform Crime Reporting
- Collect and prepare statistics for in-house, statewide and federal distribution
- Process all requests for information and provide documents to the Public Law Enforcement Agencies, District Attorney Offices, State Parole and Adult Probation Offices, Insurance Companies, and Municipal Court in compliance with the Texas Public Information Act and Department Policies
- Respond to public complaints, concerns, and inquiries pertaining to departmental records
- Open, sort and distribute all Police Department's incoming mail.
- Conduct local criminal history backgrounds for the military, federal agencies and citizens
- Send, receive, and distribute fax messages to proper personnel. Responsible for faxing reports to various law enforcement agencies
- Respond to court order subpoena requests
- Protect privacy and confidentiality, yet assure availability of public information from the Records Division.
- Process applications for solicitor permits
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the weekly duty calendar
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- More than one year experience handling large volumes of computer data entry and general office procedures.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation.
