Job Title/Position: Medical Record Specialist
Reports To: Billing Manager/ QA Coordinator/ Office Manager
Job Description Summary
The filing/data processing clerk has primary responsibility and accountability for maintaining accurate patient records for billing purposes, supply inventory and other related clerical duties.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
1. Delivers and picks up physician orders from MD office. Assures correct signature and date.
2.. Date stamps all clinical notes on a daily basis.
3 Prepares Medical Record for retrieval and follows process to locate, sign out retrieve and deliver medical records as requested.
4 Keep accurate reports on pending physician order , DME and or plan of cares to ensure timely billing and reports to billing Manager, Office Manager or Director of Nursing
6 Maintains current log of interim orders and plans of care (POC) to verify mail and return date to comply with state and federal regulations
7 Maintains adequate supply of patient clinical record elements and stock of pre-made clinical records available for clinicians.
8 Answers telephone lines promptly and efficiently. Responds to message content appropriately, as instructed by the Clinical Director/Information Systems Supervisor. Records telephone calls onto call log.
9 Responsible for having excellent time management skills for field job duties.
10 Keeps daily logs of mileage used and submit for payroll on a weekly basis.
11 Special projects and other related duties as assigned by the Clinical Director/ Office Manager / Billing Manager.
12 Files medical records on a daily basis in patient chart.
13 Establishes and maintains positive working relationships, with current and potential referral and payor sources.
14 Assist Billing Department in authorizations and record keeping as needed.

Position Qualifications
1 High school graduate or equivalent.
2 Two years data entry experience. Previous billing and computer experience, preferably in home health or similar operation.
3 Previous health care related billing experience.
Skills Required
1 Ability to type 50 words per minute
2 Word processing skills
3 Personal computer skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $10.00 per hour
