JOB SUMMARY

The Recovery Area Manager leads process operations of the department. This position is responsible for creating a safe work environment, executing, and continuously improving the productivity, efficiency, and cost of the operation. The Recovery Area Manager reports to the Power & Recovery Superintendent.

Westrock offers competitive pay, benefits and a flexible working schedule including a 9/80 work schedule – working 9 days in a two-week period.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance and excellence.

· Improves efficiency of the Recovery operation by analyzing the processes utilizing all available resources.

· Manages production rates and inventories to meet our mill operational needs.

· Exceeds and continuously improves on operational uptime.

· Troubleshoots process and operational equipment issues and develops systems and structures to avoid reoccurrences.

· Manages internal product quality and looks for ways to reduce variability.

· Tracks and manages area operating budget.

· Plans and executes maintenance outages on time and on budget.

· Submits capital projects that support area operations and reduce operating costs.

· Develops area employees through observation, coaching, and training.

KNOWLEDGE

· OSHA, State, and Local laws/regulations.

· Environmental compliance limits.

· Recovery boiler operation and chemistry

· Labor Contract Knowledge

· Operational and internal quality system experience

· Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, EPAM, PI, Compliant Pro, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in a technical from four-year college or university.

· 5 years related experience, preferably within the paperboard industry.

· Supervisory or management experience required.

· Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
