Registrar Trauma / Coding (Hybrid - Elyria & St. Johns) Job at University Hospitals
The responsibility of the Trauma Registrar is to ensure that data entered into the Trauma Database contains detailed, reliable, and readily accessible information needed to support the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Adult Trauma Center and other UH system hospitals with Trauma data collection and reporting. Data that is collected must detail the injury event, demographics, pre-hospital information, diagnosis, ICD-CM code, patient care, outcomes, and costs of treatment for injured patients. Data collection and reporting of Trauma outcomes and selected data elements maintained in the Trauma Registry to state and national agencies (Ohio Trauma Registry, National Trauma Data Bank) is a requirement of the American College of Surgeons for Trauma center verification. Data submission from all hospitals on the care and outcomes of the injured patient to the Ohio Trauma Registry is required by Ohio Law. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry(CSTR) desired. Experience in medical record format. Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology and procedures is required. Experience using computerized programs for data handling, knowledge in trauma registry methodology, case abstracting, data entry, ICD-9/10 CM coding. One year experience with electronic medical records preferred.
Associates Degree Trauma/Injury Registry experience preferred. One year coding experience preferred.
