Relationship Manager – Retirement

This remote role can be based out of the New England area, New Jersey or New York.

Recruiting for a skilled relationship manager to partner with John Hancock Retirement’s plan sponsors and advisors in the $50m to $250m market. The role requires expert application of strategic account management and consultative techniques, to develop and maintain relationships within multiple collaborators (sponsors, advisors, TPAs, etc) with a primary objective of servicing and retaining customers. They will deliver appropriate level of service to optimize customer loyalty while also meeting John Hancock’s business needs, including: retention, product positioning, cross sell, and overall revenue growth.

Individual Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining sponsor relationships for plans in the $50m-$250m market segment

• Establishing trust and credibility with key external influencers, including plan sponsors, financial advisors, consultants, and third party administrators

• Developing a deep understanding of assigned client’s 1) business (industry, market position, strategy, etc) and 2) objectives related to benefit & retirement programs through research and relationship building

• Exhibiting deep understanding of key features and benefits of JH products and services

• Being responsible for the design of targeted client-level strategies, partnering with internal areas of subject matter expertise to implement the strategies

• Driving revenue growth within assigned book of business through the use of consultative selling techniques and a strong understanding of profit/loss drivers

• Demonstrate executive presence and authority over subject matter to instill confidence in clients and influence successful outcomes

• Supporting new sales and market development initiatives by l eading service model discussions

• Negotiating pricing and fees

• Institutionalizing appropriate information and history in CRM system

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience working with clients

• Minimum 5-10 years working in the retirement industry with experience in defined contributions, defined benefits, and non-qualified plans

• Strong business insight

• Emotional intelligence and intellectual curiosity

• Superior relationship building capability

• Experienced communication skills

• Strong influence and negotiation skills

• Strong executive presence

• Strong sense of urgency and accountability; results orientation

• Analytical and execution ability; able to go high and deep

• Great teammate; puts success of team ahead of self

• Hold FINRA Series 7, 63 or 66; ability to obtain Insurance licensing within 3 months

• Travel required
