About the Site and Role:
The DuPont Edina site, historically referred to by the product brand name of FilmTec®, produces reverse osmosis (RO) elements to enable clean water for the needs of the global human family. The site employs approximately 600 DuPont employees and another 60-80 contractors. FilmTec® RO elements comprise a significant portion of the DuPont Water Solutions line of business as part of the broader Water and Protection DuPont business segment.
The Reliability & Maintenance Leader is a high-impact role at the site and a key leadership position. This role has responsibility for the Reliability and Maintenance departments along with contract administration and purchasing personnel. The incumbent’s organization has a Maintenance Supervisor that oversees the crafts, maintenance and reliability engineers, reliability technicians, planners, schedulers, field contract administrators, MRO coordinators, and procurement personnel. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, this role reports to the Site Leader and has responsibility for the safety of their team, execution of precision maintenance, asset mechanical reliability, onboarding and training of crafts, establishing and monitoring core R&M KPIs, reliability improvement plans, mechanical integrity and quality assurance (MIQA), and the safety and efficiency of contractor personnel. By partnering with functional support at the site and across broader DuPont as well as the operations departments, this role drives excellence in the R&M space enabling reliable, high-quality production and differentiated service to our customers.
Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), Quality Responsibilities:
- Accountable for full compliance with all regulatory and DuPont requirements
- Accountable for EHS performance of the department and contractor personnel. Champions a “Driving to Zero” culture in the department and across the site.
- Accountable for MIQA performance of the site. Supports corporate initiatives site wide such as mechanical integrity and safety instrumented systems compliance.
- Accountable to ensure precision maintenance is performed that enables product quality and eliminates product defects while supporting predicable and high-throughput operation.
- R&M Leader takes a strong lead in both words and action to support EHS and Quality performance including shop-floor visibility, proficiency in technical understanding, leading by example, recognition, and holding the team and individuals accountable.
- Partners with EH&S Department to drive performance within the department and across the site. Helps identify and ensure progress against reliability bad actors to reduce EH&S risk.
- Responsible for participating in the Management of Change (MOC) process and championing its consistent use per requirements.
- Ensures adherence to procedures and standard work within the department.
- Part of the site Leader on Call rotation.
- Possesses a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the success of the site.
People Leadership:
- The ability to inspire others is key to the success of this role. Knowledge of the shop-floor / maintenance processes and how people interact with equipment and one another are keys to the success of the department and the broader site. Must build a strong rapport across a diverse workgroup to enable strong ownership and performance.
- Ensures the organizational design is optimized to meet the business needs in a sustainable fashion. Prioritizes filling of open roles and takes the lead on hiring direct reports. Ensures subordinate managers do the same.
- Recognizes and drives work process improvements for the site. Ensures effective implementation and compliance with the Maintenance Work Process.
- Develops and sponsors current and future leaders within the department and across the site. Coaches and mentors all members of the R&M organization to help them better serve the shop floor. Integrates a “safer, better, faster, cheaper, easier” mindset for their organization to drive focus on value by realizing their impact must enable success of our shop-floor workers and technicians.
- Ensures department support team is functioning to gather feedback from employees on the best practices and policies to optimize business results while creating a top-tier workplace experience.
- Ensures DuPont’s pay for performance culture is applied. Builds a robust, feedback-rich environment and exhibits and ensures excellence in performance management.
- Fosters positive relationships with key contractors and ensures contracting strategy is meeting the needs of the site and business.
- Creates cadences of accountability and establishes and monitors key department KPIs while ensuring visibility to the team and the site.

Business Owner Mindset/Financial Acumen:
- Owns provision of site services aligned to the corporate spending plan, with a long-term low-cost mindset. Provides leadership to the site on contracting strategy to reduce cost without sacrificing safety, quality, and reliability.
- Inspires the organization to apply the principles of highly reliable organizations, continuous improvement, value creation, and financial acumen skills to accelerate profitability and low-cost service of the site.
- Drives implementation of reliability, productivity and technology implementation plans.
- Participates in annual and long-term reliability and capital planning.
- Prioritizes, says “no” when needed.
- Works closely with Site Leader and accounting to develop budget and monitor business cost at local level, collaborating to identify and deliver low-cost services in line with business demand.
- Partners to ensure site infrastructure strategically maintained. Makes certain condition, reliability, and capability is adequate to meet business needs.
- Develops and owns a site-specific reliability strategy with a clear 3-5 year vision in alignment with geographic, functional, and business strategies, and understandable to employees. Partners with the operating departments and manufacturing technology to develop and implement “Top 10” reliability opportunities and ensures results are delivered in a timely manner. Ensures R&M organization assists in improvement opportunity identification and integration into the Business Technology Improvement Plan (BTIP) where appropriate.
- Utilizes the principles of Operational Excellence to drive continuous improvement and create value to accelerate profitability and low-cost service from the site. Champion of LEAN principles and implementation of standards and continuous improvement processes (5S, standard work, GEMBA walks, Kaizens, VSM, Lean Six Sigma, etc.).
- Demonstrates strong working knowledge of products, production processes and end-applications.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required or commensurate industrial experience; engineering degree preferred
- 10+ years of industrial experience required
- Proven Leadership; People, Maintenance & Reliability, Technology, Operations, and/or EH&S
- Knowledge of MIQA, EMS (SAP), PdM, TPM, and precision maintenance techniques a plus
- TEEP/OEE expertise in a discrete manufacturing environment a plus
- Ability to set priorities and provide direction to influence department and broader site
- Demonstrated ability to create a respectful work environment where everyone can contribute to their full potential
