About This Role:
The Kansas Institute for Early Childhood Education and Research (KIECER) and Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO) teams, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, are looking to hire a Research Assistant who will work on a statewide project in the area of childcare and early education. This position will join a cadre of staff and have responsibility for project activities associated with the early childhood education workforce. Additional responsibilities include the contribution to, and dissemination of, materials specific to evidence-based practices in childcare and early education. This position will report to the KIECER Director.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Analyze data from early childhood workforce development projects, including performing basic descriptive analysis
Perform data entry and manage database and other data files
Assist in data collection across the state of Kansas using a variety of early childhood assessment tools
Perform quality assurance to maintain the integrity of data and human subject protocols
Conduct literature research in support of publication and presentation efforts
Assist in the design of survey and other data collection measures
Coordinate with project coordinators, director, and evaluation coordinator on data collection and evaluation
Assist in the preparation of presentations and publications for clients, refereed publications, and regional and national conferences
The expertise of individuals may be in the area of early care and education of young children (i.e., psychology, human development, and family science) and/or instructional technology/computer sciences with an introductory knowledge of data collection, data synthesis, and analysis.
Travel may be required as it relates to attendance at educational events for personal skill and professional development. Staff may also be required to attend meetings to represent the project.

The Institute is housed in the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Kansas State University. The mission of KIECER is to elevate and influence practice, an equitable workforce, and family systems through collaborative efforts to advance the science of early childhood education and development. The work of the Institute falls within three main areas: workforce development, research and outreach, and engagement.
The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to six academic departments (Applied Human Sciences; Food, Nutrition, Dietetics & Health, Hospitality Management; Interior Design and Fashion Studies; Personal Financial Planning; and Kinesiology), the Center on Aging, and the Physician Assistant Program. In addition, the college serves as a satellite location for the WSU nursing program. The College enrolls roughly 2,700 students (graduate and undergraduate) and employs over 100 full-time faculty members in teaching, research, and Extension positions ( https://www.hhs.k-state.edu/ ). What You'll Need to Succeed: Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in child development, early childhood, psychology, or a related field
Master's degree in child development or early childhood
One year of research-related experience
One year of experience with database software (i.e., spreadsheets/Excel, SPSS)
Three years of experience with data graphing software (i.e., line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts)
Familiarity with early childhood settings
Management/supervisory experience
Other Requirements:
