An NIH funded Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory in the Harvard Medical School Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (https://spauldingrehab.org/research/programs-labs/cardiovascular-research/about) directed by Dr. J. Andrew Taylor (https://connects.catalyst.harvard.edu/Profiles/display/Person/52898). Funded projects include exercise for cardiometabolic health in spinal cord injury (primary, HL117037), cerebrovascular function in adolescents after concussion (sub from HD108133), and pathophysiology of bone blood flow in type 1 diabetes (competitive revision for DK124710), as well as internal pilot funding for characterization of adipokines after spinal cord injury and of autonomic effects of burn injury. In addition, the Spaulding Research Institute has completed a $50M capital campaign that provides internal funding for trainees.

A variety of experimental approaches in humans are utilized in these studies including exercise testing and training, oral glucose tolerance testing, cerebrovascular control assessment, sympathetic microneurography, as well as physiologic and pharmacologic approaches to cardiovascular autonomic testing. The fellow will conduct research projects with broad translational impact and will work with a collaborative and complementary mentoring team that includes physiologists, biomedical engineers, and clinician-scientists.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who can creatively integrate new ideas and concepts into the overall team goals. Candidates should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or Sc.D. degree preferentially in an area of respiratory, exercise, or integrative physiology or related fields, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous experience with similar experimental approaches is preferred but not required. Salary is commensurate with experience and based on current NIH guidelines.
