This position is responsible for management of the Research Program in the Department of Orthopaedics. It is expected for the qualified candidate to be able to support and assist research faculty with their studies, publications, and support the facilitation and submission of grant submissions. The Research Program Manager will work closely with the FL Chair of Orthopaedics by identifying goals and strategies to grow the research program. The Research Program Manager is responsible for the management of clinical research in the Department of Orthopaedics for Nemours Florida, including the following:
  • Collaboration with internal and external researchers to formulate and manage research projects that fall within the scope of approved protocols.
  • Seeking research projects, including multicenter projects, and performing as manager of such studies including the continued collaboration and communication with sponsors.
  • Developing research study protocols, conducting study procedures, managing documents, and preparing and managing manuscripts and abstracts.
  • Seeking extramural and intramural funding for research projects.
  • Grant preparation, submission, and management including the coordination of grants, act as a liaison between PI and the Office of Sponsored Projects.
  • Initiating data collection, analyses, and report and manuscript writing.
  • Managing Research Fellows and other department research personnel.

Research Program Manager Essential Functions:
  • Formulate and manage research projects that fall within the scope of approved protocols.
  • Responsible for grant preparation and submission and the coordination of grants with the Office of Sponsored Projects.
  • Identify and manage intramural and extramural funding opportunities for research projects.
  • Liaison with extramural support agencies; prepare, edit, and manage documents and reports as required by sponsoring institutions.
  • Manage IRB documents and compliance issues for research projects, including consent and assent documents, annual reports, closures and renewals.
  • Supervise study execution, completion and manuscript preparation.
  • Coordinate department's manuscript, chapter, and presentation submissions meeting and all deadlines.
  • Development, implementation, and management of the research collaboration process; identify and utilize software and hardware systems.
  • Create and maintain databases.
  • Manage research students, residents, and fellows and other department research personnel including orientation and continuing education, including he development of of a core teaching course for research fellows and other trainees.
  • Coordination of Research Scholarly Activity Programs with Nemours and other external educational institutions.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience required, including clinical research program management.
  • Master's degree in medical or science related field required
  • Clinical trial experience required
  • Familiar with preparation of IRB packages for submission preferred
  • Experience in grant preparation including budgeting and grant submissions required
  • Ability to travel to Pensacola and Jacksonville FL required
