Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Resident Assistant position is to meet the daily personal care needs of residents with professionalism, dignity and respect. The position is responsible for assisting the resident with the Activities of Daily Living. To follow the individualized plan of care and anticipate the daily needs of our residents. You are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resident Care Duties:
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This includes bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, grooming and eating according to their individualized care plan.
- Attends to the personal care needs of residents in a timely manner.
- Regularly review, follow and adhere to each resident’s care plan.
- Document and report care provided and resident observations in the computer system.
- Follows procedure for medication reminders (NOT to administer) to ensure correct day, time and that they are indeed being taken. Complete documentation in the computer system.
- Respond to Personal Help Button Calls in a timely manner. Document in Computer the reason for the call and services rendered.
- Prepare the dining table and serve meals to all residents according to their specified menu
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and public areas within the Cottage
- Responsible for performing laundry services for the residents
- Provide information, encourage, and participate with residents in activity focused programs
- May be asked to provide assistance to residents in Assisted Living and/or Memory Care
- Puts Customer Service first; ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the residents needs and rights
- Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors
- Relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the community
- High School Diploma or GED
- Effectively communicate in the English language and follow written and verbal instructions
- 6-months experience in a senior community setting (preferred)
- Valid Adult Basic First Aid and CPR Certification (preferred)
- It may require exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects.
- Functional requirements include constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing pulling, stooping, bending, turning and stretching.
- Finger and hand dexterity are required.
