What You'll Do:

Directly supervises Therapeutic Program Workers; provides management/ supervision oversight of living areas on assigned shift; has authority to recommend to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline other employees; ensures compliance with Medicaid standards & bargaining unit contracts; resolves labor disputes/matters at first step level; trains & in-services staff as required; timely completes & signs employee evaluations; ensures adequate TPW staff coverage for living areas; ensures adequate staff coverage for Licensed Practical Nurses & Registered Nurses; ensures Life Safety staffing minimums are met; monitors daily staff coverage & ensures staffing needs are met; completes short & long range staffing projections; monitors employees’ leave balances; receives employee call-offs & completes required documentation & notifications; reviews & distributes monthly staffing schedules for accuracy; completes daily & monthly staff counts on all shifts; recommends personal leave; completes daily, weekly & monthly reports; operates Scheduling Management System & electronic messaging programs & equipment; ensures compliance with facility policy & procedures & deals with public.

Completes Supervisor’s accident reports & ensures proper documentation is provided to injured employees; makes visits of living areas to assess environment & ensures client needs are being met & take corrective action when necessary; enforces facility policies & procedures to ensure client needs are meet; secures & distributes employee paychecks; completes employee request for leave requests; ensures employees sign request for leave blanks in a timely manner; notifies supervisors in emergency situations; notifies appropriate people regarding Unusual Incidents; completes Unusual Incidents log; answers telephone; Supervises & encourages individuals in independent functioning & instructs in social skills; Participates in implementation of individual’s habilitation plans including outings; assists & relieves staff as needed.

Performs miscellaneous duties: operates switchboard & communication equipment as required; assists with annual employee’s vacation selection process; provides transportation resources for client medical appointments; Attend meetings & in-service training as scheduled; In emergency situations notifies A.O.C. & MUI Unit; Participates in looking for individuals as needed

Qualifications
24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in providing care to patients &/or in participating in development &/or carrying out of patients' habilitation plans & preferably for those who had developmental disabilities or mental disability, & in implementing & carrying out same.

Major Work Characteristics:

Knowledge of ICF/IID (i.e., Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities) standards of resident care, DODD policies & developmental center policies*; supervisory principles/techniques*; employee training & development*; agency or facility policies & procedures regarding patient care activities; human relations. Skill in direct care procedures (e.g., taking of vital signs; rendering of tub baths; appropriate lifting & positioning procedures; first aid). Ability to prepare & maintain accurate records; understand technical manuals & verbal instructions regarding patient care; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; establish friendly atmosphere as supervisor of work area.
