Job Title: Respiratory Therapist II
Location: 815 Pollard Rd, Los Gatos, CA 95032
Duration: 3 Months Contract

Duties:

Basic Purpose:
Provides all services of a RT I (below), plus provides Critical Care services, plus Professional Activities equal to four (4) points required.

RT I:
Provides basic respiratory care procedures and/or diagnostic services. Must demonstrate competency and regularly work in at least two (2) of the following core areas, one (1) of which must be Med/Surg (floors)/Emergency Department. Med/Surg/Emergency Department Pulmonary Lab-PFT primary Perform ABG Analysis Adult Critical Care NICU/Peds Sub Acute Diagnostic Bronchoscopy Advanced Pulmonary Function testing

BASIC PURPOSE

Applies nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care. Strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the California Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction) and for the delivery of care consistent with the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights for Nursing. The Clinical Nurse provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. All aspects of the Clinical Nurse’s performance supports service excellence and a healing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current California RN License.
Ability to communicate in English and to perform potentially complex speaking, reading, writing, and mathematics.
Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate appropriately.
Current AHA BLS & ACLS certification.

AGES OF PATIENTS SERVED

This position is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of all ages of patients based on unit specific standards

Skills:

License/Certification/Registration Requirements
1.Licensed by the State of California Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
2.Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) or registered by the National Respiratory Care Board as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) and must continue to meet RRT continuing requirements or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) hired at ECH prior to June 2011.
3. Hold and maintain active membership with National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
4. Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) bi-annually; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neo Natal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred.

This position will serve all age groups.

Education:

1. AS degree in Respiratory Care from an approved Respiratory Care program that is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
2. Bachelors of Science preferred

40 Hours per week
