We are an “extreme value” retailer, Grocery Outlet touts big discounts on brand-name products and a typical shopper basket is priced about 40% lower than that of conventional grocers and 20% lower than leading discounters. Stores are run by independent owner-operators from the communities they serve, enabling locations to cater closely to changing customer preferences. We achieve the shopper savings via a sourcing model of purchasing surplus inventory and product overruns directly from thousands of supplier partners. That includes a changing assortment of products with “WOW!” prices.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES of the Back-up Lead for Grocery Outlet:

Customer Service

• Knows and adheres to quality standards for customer service as outlined by the Store Owners/Operators
• Adheres to all guidelines around product recommendation and information
• Assists in any other departments, based on store need

Personal Effectiveness

• Reports to work for scheduled shifts, on-time and appropriately uniformed
• Understands and adheres to store’s policy and procedures
• Accepts and offers feedback and suggestions openly and respectfully
• Accepts direction willingly and follows through with all delegated tasks

Safety:

• Maintains a safe work environment according to all store procedures and state and/or federal regulations. Safety being the number one priority.
• Wears protective clothing as required for position, (if necessary)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES::

• Operates all necessary computer equipment and software related to operation of Grocery/Retail store opening and closing
• Required to work opening/mid/closing shifts
• Stocks, rotates, merchandises and faces product according to store procedure
• Maintains backroom areas and sales floor according to store cleanliness standards
• Maintains temperature controls for deli, meat and frozen as per store and OSHA standards
• Operates equipment related to the merchandising such as scales, u-boats, hand trucks and pallet jacks, etc.
• Operates all necessary computer equipment and software related to operation of the grocery department
• Will receive product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy
• Will be responsible for opening or closing based on store need
• Will be required work early morning, weekends and/or open holiday schedules.
• Trains other staff, based on store need
• Assists in other departments, based on store need
• Must have open availability!
