Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.

- Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
- Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
- Performing tests aimed at diagnosing ocular ailments, disorders, and other problems
- Assists with in-office procedures and injections ensuring proper informed consent is obtained
- Assists with patient education.
- Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
- Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room or office and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
- At least two years of experience in a work up position within a retina or ophthalmology practice is required for consideration. COA/COT is highly preferred
- Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business
- Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology highly preferred.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
- Demonstrate superior computer skills
- Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
- Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
