Role: Scrum Lead
Reports to: VP of Engineering & AI
Location: This role will be remote in the continental US, Alaska, or Hawaii
Hours: Full-time
Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000

The Scrum Lead will be an experienced servant leader and coach for a cross-functional agile team operating in complex and cross functional work across Trevor. The Scrum Lead will guide and facilitate the formation and maturing of Scrum teams involved in delivering business-oriented solutions, through effective application of the agile based SDLC (Software Delivery Life Cycle) and associated ceremonies, ensuring the agreed upon agile practice is being followed. Removing impediments and fostering a high performing team with a focus on continuous improvement resulting in high quality, as well as, a timely and reliable delivery cycle.

Who you are

  • Experienced. Proven knowledge and experience with agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures, especially Scrum. Demonstrated leadership ability to coach and mentor multiple agile teams, through the forming, storming, norming, performing stages to reach their highest potential.
  • Collaborator: Experienced in fostering an environment where different opinions and approaches can be entertained, considered, and appreciated while working as a team to find a resolution. Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly - both written and verbal - for audiences, both internal and external. Recognized success in creating relationships with cross-functional teams from varying levels, working closely with colleagues to brainstorm ideas, discuss pros/cons, and develop ways forward.
  • Communicator: Ability to understand technical issues at a high level and communicate agile methodologies within the organization. Skilled at conveying technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Service Delivery and Adaptability: Demonstrated flexibility in the midst of change, being able to successfully juggle multiple deliverables, and adapting to new situations with fresh ideas or innovative approaches. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Process Coordination/Support: Demonstrated success following processes effectively, on time, and with an eye on all the details that go into successfully achieving goals.
  • Mission and Culture Aligned: Demonstrates awareness and support for The Trevor Project’s mission and vision: to end suicide and address mental health crises in the LGBTQ youth community, and create a world where all LGBTQ young people see a bright future for themselves.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to our critical mission of ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people, while fostering an inclusive approach to your direct work and engagement with Trevor colleagues across the organization
  • Continually grow your LGBTQ competency and awareness
  • Organize and lead Scrum ceremonies
  • Oversee and manage scope, timeline, quality, goals and deliverables that support business goals
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of productive conflict resolution and problem solving
  • Prepare and present reports on the progress and success
  • Coordinate activities with other teams across the program
  • Partner with and support the Product Managers
  • Participate in the Scrum of Scrums and partner with other Scrum Leads
  • Coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Ensure teams are held accountable to agile SDLC (Software Delivery Life Cycle) tenants and their internal working agreements including use of appropriate tools, standards and best practices
  • Promote and demonstrate core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and visibility
  • Ensure the team is tracking and communicating team progress and metrics to the appropriate resources.
  • Support and empower the team to make appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
  • Empower the team to self-organize around achieving their commitments
  • Identify and remove any impediments/distractions that interfere with the team’s ability to deliver against their commitments
  • Challenge and enable the team to continuously improve
  • Other relevant tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned
