Seasonal Graduate Application Reader – Robotics Job at Carnegie Mellon University
The Robotics Institute is looking for Seasonal Readers who have the ability to participate in a fast-paced, creative, and success/deadline driven environment.
The Seasonal Reader will be assigned files that meet pre-set academic standards (standardized test scores and class rank or grade point average) that are determined by the Admission Leadership Team prior to the start of the review. The applications are assigned electronically for the Seasonal Readers to perform a complete, holistic review of each application. The reader checks the accuracy of the data, reads the letters of recommendation, essays, and other submitted materials. The reader then analyzes the strength of the curriculum and reviews the notes any significant details about the context of the applicant.
To meet weekly reading goals, the Seasonal Reader must be able to devote a minimum of 20 hours/week to the application review process and attend a training session in early November. After completing training readers will support the initial review for first year applicants for both domestic and international students. Seasonal Readers will work remotely.
The Seasonal Readers must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and acute attention to detail to maintain adequate communication with the Admissions Leadership Team. Incumbent must be aware of internal biases, open-minded, conscientious, and a strong, positive team player.

Working Conditions
Own a recent computer (preferably fewer than 5 years old) with a reliable, high-speed internet connection, and access to a private, secure location in which to work.

Ability to attend three-four Zoom meetings during standard business hours.

Visual acuity to perform activities such as extended use of a computer monitor, extensive reading, and analyzing data.
