2nd shift Shop Manager

LOGISTICS experience and/or MECHANIC Experience preferred.

HOODZ Of Downtown Chicago is a top performing office in one of the largest kitchen exhaust cleaning networks in the nation. In this role you are part of a team that focuses on fire safety in commercial kitchens across Chicago and the outlying suburbs. The work is consistent and predictable, with a focus on doing the right thing for our clients. They rely on our expertise to help them with their fire safety and building management, and YOU are the front line for ensuring our technicians and trucks are providing exemplary service. This role is for second shift (3:00PM – 11PM).

DAILY TASKS

● Setting up trucks for shifts. Includes:

• checking gas and kerosene - refill if needed
• small mechanical repairs as needed (larger issues are outsourced)
• checking and fulfilling requests from technicians and management on the white board
• checking chemicals (degreaser, shine, etc.) and restock if needed
• checking messages on the board from technicians and addressing with management

ONGOING TRUCK MAINTENANCE

● oil + filters

● wipers, washer, and other fluids

● brakes, tires, etc.

● washing of trucks

● safety inspections

● emissions testing

● documentation (registration, insurance)

● repairs

● inventory of truck supplies

● overall maintenance of tools and equipment that travel on the trucks to and from jobs

SHOP DUTIES

● tracking and restocking company supplies (access panels, chemicals, plastic etc.)

● tracking and restocking shop supplies (water, coffee, hand soap, etc.)

● tracking and restocking/ordering filters

● laundry

● general maintenance (garbage, overall cleanliness, small repairs, organizing, etc.)

TECH COMMUNICATION

● relaying messages between technicians, other supervisors, and management

● tracking and providing clothing items

● tracking and providing PPE items

REQUIREMENTS

● second shift (3PM – 11PM)

● valid driver’s license

● aptitude for hands-on, active, technical, and mechanical work

● passing initial and ongoing background & drug screens

● climbing ladders

● successfully completing 3-week training program to earn your HOODZ University Certificate

COMPENSATION

• hourly rate starting at $17 - $20 per hour
• reliability incentives as well as profitability incentives
• medical insurance, dental, and vision plans are available after 90 days of employment
• paid holidays (7)
• One week of paid vacation after one year
• Overtime

EXPERIENCE

• commercial Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Experience (helpful but not mandatory)
• mechanical experience/ability to repair trucks and other equipment
• computer/Technology skills including spreadsheets (excel), Word, Corporate software, iPhones is preferred
