Summary of Position
This position is responsible for loading and balancing the annual operating and restricted fund budgets, analyzing, and organizing new budget requests for review by the Budget Committee and working with IT to maintain and enhance the online budget request system. This position also works with the School of Law management to prepare monthly budget to actual and forecast reports; Records and monitors investment activity related to the university endowment and related funds and provides related information to University Advancement, Financial Planning, and Senior Management. This position supervises and hires student employees and coordinates related daily activities.

General Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for loading and balancing the annual operating and restricted fund budgets, analyzing, and organizing new budget requests for review by the Budget Committee and working with IT to maintain and enhance the online budget request system. This position also works with the School of Law management to prepare monthly budget to actual and forecast reports; Records and monitors investment activity related to the university endowment and related funds and provides related information to University Advancement, Financial Planning, and Senior Management. This position supervises and hires student employees and coordinates related daily activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Loads and balances the operating and restricted budget. Responds to budget questions and general ledger inquiries from departments across the university. Establishes and maintains budgets for designated funds. Works with faculty and staff relating to designated fund budgets and activities. Monthly review of budget verses actual expenditures including research and follow-up on variances. Runs and distributes monthly budget reports to VP of Finance and Administration, Associate VP of Business and Finance and Comptroller. Monitors spending of contingency and reserve funds and provides reporting to management.

Prepares weekly reports related to available cash and liquidity status as it pertains to operations and bond covenants. Prepares monthly cash graphs for distribution to Senior Management. Reconciles primary operating bank accounts for receipts and distributions.

Point person for guidance to School of Law management related to accounting and budgeting issues and prepares monthly Budget to Actual and Forecast information which is distributed to Senior Management. Prepares financial sections of the ABA and AALS reporting for the School of Law.

Provides report which serves as basis for yearend balance analysis and projection by Director of Budget and Cash Management. Records investment activity related to the university endowment and related funds and provides information related to the endowment to University Advancement, Financial Planning and Senior Management as needed. Prepares the responses to the annual NACUBO Endowment survey. Prepares the spending policy calculation as well as the Available to Spend report for senior management.

Supervises student employees and coordinates daily tasks.

Aids in the preparation of financial statements and related audit required workpapers and footnotes.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting. Minimum of 3 years budget experience.
