This is a great position for someone who enjoys a hands-on environment where you can see the project progress into a meaningful application. The projects at Polar are unique, challenging, and exciting. You will not be designing from “pick and place” or some other form of company engineering handbook.

Our ideal candidate will be a team player to work and develop new products along with the other engineers. This means following instructions and guidance from the team. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively.

We are looking for a creative and resourceful person with experience in mechanical design and production documentation using Solidworks.

The mechanical design will consist of:

• Packaging of electronic printed circuit boards and controls into weather resistant enclosures.
• Design of enclosures and hardware for cooling systems, battery storage and generators for operation in harsh environments.
• From detailed concepts / sketches produce drawings of parts to be machined and assembled as used on engines, cooling systems, energy storage, solar systems, hybrid vehicles

The candidate should possess skill and experience with:

• Sheetmetal manufacturing
• Welding processes
• CNC machining of parts
• Fasteners and fittings
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y14.5
• Bills of Materials

Additional skills for the ideal the candidate can include working knowledge of motorized parts, bearings, electronics assemblies, solar systems, controls, and a flare for industrial design.

Minimum 5 years’ experience.
