Job Description

Computer World Services, Corporation (CWS) is seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as Sr. Oracle Database Administrator for The United States Secret Services (USSS), Officer of the Chief Information Officer, Software Solutions (S2) Division responsible for building and maintaining custom application projects, databases and reporting capabilities allowing the agency to complete both its protective and investigative mission. The S2 program builds custom software using the latest technologies from Microsoft, Oracle, Tableau, IBM Cognos, Data Warehouse and ESRI Geographic Information System (GIS).

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will provide comprehensive database management and administration for operational and mission-related project support of enterprise level database environments. The ideal candidate will have expert level knowledge of Oracle as well as relational database concepts, database modeling, and the ability to support Oracle databases through multiple lifecycle environments from development to mission critical production systems.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive database management and administration for operational and mission-related project support of enterprise-level database environments
  • Support and manage multiple Oracle databases with good communication skills to keep stakeholders informed
  • Investigate complex database issues and provide solutions in a dynamic and complex production environment
  • Provide in-depth technical knowledge to interpret user requirements into database designs and implement databases based on functional specifications
  • Provide database direction to the application team in support of user requirements
  • Support database infrastructure design, performance tuning, space management, backup and recovery, and version control
  • Configure and setup Linux Oracle servers, install and configure Oracle RAC database software, as well as ensure Oracle Data Guard is configured to replicate data to the disaster recovery facility
  • Execute Oracle database upgrades, patch installs, and migration of database environments to new servers
  • Provide complete infrastructure diagrams and briefings to senior management
  • Implement proper security policies within the Oracle database environment to support federal NIST standards
  • Provide status reporting through activity reports in a government-specified format such as daily stand-ups, written reports, etc., and monthly status reports

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • BS preferred from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience
  • Expert level knowledge of Oracle as well as relational database concepts, database modeling, and the ability to support Oracle databases through multiple lifecycle environments from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Proficient in SQL and must have expert level knowledge of query language
  • Ability to work independently and with the application developments teams

Certifications

Relevant certifications may include:

  • Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate (OCA)
  • Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Oracle Database Administrator Certified Master (OCM)

Security Clearance

  • US Citizenship is required
  • Candidates shall undergo a favorable Suitability Assessment as determined by the US Secret Service’s Security Clearance Division’s Clearance and Access Branch (SCD-CAB)
  • Candidates who provide support in Moderate or High positions must have undergone a minimum of a Tier 4a/BI (Background Investigation) level background investigation within the last 5 years; or otherwise be the subject of a favorable US Secret Service controlled Tier 4a/BI background investigation

Other (Travel, Work Environment, Administrative Notes, etc.)

  • Limited travel to company office locations and travel outside of the Washington, DC, area is not anticipated; but may be necessary over the life of the contract.
