Stantec's Mid-Atlantic Region office has an opportunity for a Senior Door Hardware Systems Specification Writer in the Architecture and Interior Design group.
Your Key Responsibilities
Position Corporate Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist with the development and updating of corporate international specification standards and related policies
- Assist with the acquisition of specification software by researching and, or testing available products before rendering recommendations
- Function as the liaison with specification software providers on both contractual and technical matters
- Serve as a clearinghouse technical resource for other specification writers’ inquiries
- Serve on Stantec’s Specifier’s roundtable
- Write and issue Technical Bulletins
- Develop check lists for efficient and comprehensive specification writing
- Participate in the Specifier’s Blog
Position Regional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work with Architects, Designers, IT Professionals, Engineers, Security Consultants and Clients to design comprehensive door systems solutions
- Analyzing architectural and contract documents
- Prepare door hardware schedules and sequences of operations
- Research and stay informed about new products in the market place
- Write customized outline prescriptive and performance outline specifications
- Coordinate division 8 specifications with customized front end, detailed (final) prescriptive and detailed performance specifications comprising CSI Divisions 0 through 14 specifications sections
- Participate as an integral member of the design team in setting direction and enabling decisions
- Mentor students and less experienced specification writers
- Collect specification sections from other disciplines and integrate all sections into a comprehensive project manual
- Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance reviews of specifications as requested
- Perform shop drawing reviews and participate in construction phase services support
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Candidate should be able to:
+ Work productively with the most current editions of Deltek Specpoint Masterspec, BSD SpecLink, and or Allegion Overtur
+ Operate Microsoft office software products
+ Communicate with team members and enable decisions
+ Understand how buildings go together
+ Solid understanding of State adopted building codes
- Membership in the Construction Specification Institute is preferred
- Operating knowledge of Revit software is preferred
Education and Experience
- Degree in architect, engineer, construction management, or related field desired
- AHC and FDAI certifications desired
- Minimum of ten years’ experience writing specifications or be certified as a Construction Technologist by the Construction Specification Institute with a minimum of six years of experience
